Kind Finance (“Kind Finance,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website and services available at https://kind.finance (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the Service, and your choices. By using the Service, you agree to this policy together with our Terms of Service.
1. Who we serve
The Service is designed for families. Parent or guardian accounts manage household settings and child profiles. If you allow a minor to use the Service, you are responsible for their activity and for ensuring this policy aligns with your expectations.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Account and profile data
- Authentication identifiers (for example, email address) and credentials managed through our authentication provider.
- Profile details you choose to provide, such as display name, role in the family (parent or child), optional age, and avatar images you upload.
- Household and family structure within the product (for example, family membership and invitations).
2.2 Financial-education and activity data
- In-app balances, chore records, savings goals, lesson progress, badges, and related activity needed to operate features you use.
- Content you submit (for example, chore completion photos) stored so parents can review activity in the household.
2.3 Payments (subscriptions)
If you purchase a paid plan, payment information is processed by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store full payment card numbers on Kind Finance servers. Stripe’s use of information is governed by Stripe’s privacy notice.
2.4 Technical and communications data
- Device, browser, and log data typically collected for security, debugging, and reliability (for example IP address, approximate location derived from IP, timestamps, and error logs).
- Transactional email sent through our email delivery provider when you request account messages or family invitations, using the addresses you supply.
- If you enable optional browser push notifications, push subscription keys required to deliver those messages.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and customer support.
- Authenticate users, prevent fraud and abuse, and protect security.
- Process subscriptions and communicate about billing where applicable.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information as a commodity. We do not use children’s data for targeted advertising.
4. How we share information
We share information only as needed to run the Service:
- Service providers such as hosting, database, authentication, storage, email delivery, payments, and analytics subprocessors bound by confidentiality and security obligations appropriate to the data.
- Within your family as designed in the product (for example, parents can see linked child activity).
- Legal and safety if we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users or the public.
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to reasonable continuity protections.
5. Retention
We retain information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations. Specific retention windows may depend on backup cycles and technical architecture. You may request deletion as described below, subject to legal exceptions.
6. Security
We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please review our Security page for a high-level overview.
7. International users
Our infrastructure and subprocessors may be located in the United States or other countries. If you access the Service from elsewhere, you consent to transfer and processing in those jurisdictions, which may have different data-protection laws than your home country.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export certain personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise rights, contact us at privacy@kind.finance. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may also use in-product account tools where available.
9. Children’s privacy
The Service is not intended for unsupervised use by children under the age where parental consent is required in your region. Parents or guardians should create and oversee child profiles. If you believe we have collected information from a child in a manner inconsistent with law, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Third-party links
The Service may reference or link to third-party sites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date when changes are material. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy to the extent permitted by law.
